Contract – where processing is necessary to provide a service you have requested, administer your account, process an order or generate and provide purchased reports.
Legal obligation – where we need to process or retain information to comply with legal requirements, including applicable accounting and taxation obligations.
Legitimate interests – where processing is reasonably necessary for the operation and protection of our business and services, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests. Where consent is required, we will ask for it before sending that marketing.
You may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe method provided in the communication or by contacting us.
Opting out of marketing does not prevent us from sending necessary service, account, payment or order communications.

12. Building Control and Third Parties
Water Efficiency Reports are intended to be capable of being used in connection with Building Regulations compliance.
We do not automatically submit your reports to Building Control merely because a report has been generated, unless a separate service expressly states that we will do so.
You may choose to download and provide your reports to Building Control, an architect, designer, developer, contractor, client, property owner or another relevant party.
Where you independently provide a downloaded report to another organisation, that organisation may process information contained in the report under its own data protection responsibilities.
13. Cookies and Similar Technologies
WaterCalculations.co.uk may use cookies and similar technologies to operate and secure the website.
Some cookies may be strictly necessary for functions such as customer accounts, authentication, shopping baskets, checkout, payments, security and remembering essential user selections.
These technologies may also be used for optional purposes such as website analytics, performance measurement or other non-essential functionality where implemented.
Where consent is required for a non-essential cookie or similar technology, we will provide an appropriate method for you to make or manage your choice.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings, although disabling essential cookies may prevent some parts of the website, account or checkout from working correctly.
14. Website Logs and Security Information
When you access WaterCalculations.co.uk, our website, hosting infrastructure and security systems may automatically process technical information.
This may include IP addresses, request information, browser or device information, timestamps, login activity, error logs and security events.
We use this information where necessary to operate the website, investigate errors, prevent abuse, detect security incidents, protect customer accounts and maintain the integrity of our systems.
15. How Long We Keep Information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and to meet applicable legal, accounting, tax, security and business requirements.
Different types of information may therefore be kept for different periods.
Order, payment and accounting records may be retained for the period required to meet applicable tax, accounting and legal obligations.
Customer account, calculation and report information may be retained while an account remains active and afterwards where reasonably necessary to maintain transaction and report records, provide customer support, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or establish or defend legal claims.
Technical and security logs may be retained for shorter periods unless they are required for the investigation of a security incident, fraud, dispute or legal matter.
Information that is no longer reasonably required will be deleted, anonymised or otherwise securely disposed of where appropriate.
16. International Data Transfers
Some of the third-party technology providers used to operate WaterCalculations.co.uk may process or store information outside the United Kingdom.
Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure that an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism or other protection required by applicable data protection law is in place.
The exact locations and safeguards may depend on the service providers used by us from time to time.
17. How We Protect Your Information

19. Deleting Your Account
You may contact us if you wish to request closure of your Water Calculations account.
Closing an account does not necessarily mean that all information associated with the account can be deleted immediately.
We may need to retain certain order, transaction, invoice, calculation, report, fraud-prevention or other records where required by law or where we have another lawful reason to retain them.
20. Children
WaterCalculations.co.uk is a professional property and Building Regulations-related service and is not intended for use by children.
We do not knowingly design the service for or market the service to children.
21. Automated Calculations
WaterCalculations.co.uk uses automated software to perform water efficiency calculations based on the information entered by the user.
The calculation system applies the relevant calculation logic to the information supplied and may automatically produce a pass or fail result against the target selected by the user.
The result is intended to assist with water efficiency assessment and does not itself constitute a decision by Building Control or another regulatory authority.
22. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Water Calculations, our technology, service providers, legal requirements or data protection practices.
The latest version will be published on WaterCalculations.co.uk and the date at the top of this page will show when it was last updated.
